MOUNTAIN ECOLOGY

    Lois invites you to enjoy this eight day field course to examine the natural history and ecosystem of the Colorado Rockies. The retreat is designed to improve observation and problem-solving skills of the participants.

    Mankinds's impact on the mountains, environmental preservation, and resource management will be examined. Many personal encounters and "hands-on" experiences with the environment promise to make the retreat exciting, rewarding, and long-remembered.

    We will hike and explore THE BEST OF COLORADO:
     
     

    The cost of the camp is $300 plus tuition (for those taking it for college credit) for eight days of room, board, and instruction. Transportation is not provided. Carpools can be arranged. There is van service from the Denver airport. Master of Liberal Arts or biology credit

    The ALPINE LEARNING CENTER is located near the YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch between Winter Park and Granby, Colorado. The modern, three-story lodge sleeps twenty and includes laboratory, library, audio-visuals, field equipment (including canoes), and educational materials. There are recreation, dining, and discussion areas.

    Baby-sitting and children's programs are nearby. During free time, participants may swim, play tennis, or golf. Evenings will be times for discussion and slide presentations. Meals will include hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches, and evening dinners feauring fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats. Participants will sometimes be asked to assist with meal preparation.
